It's All About the Brand

Sometimes an idea or concept comes flying at you from out of nowhere. And when that message comes from multiple directions at once, I sit up and take notice. The universe is telling me something and I must listen.

Last week the wonderful coordinators of RWA National's PRO Retreat asked me to present a presentation on branding. They like the way I've been able to incorporate my love of superheroes into not only my books, but also my way of life, including at times taking on a super heroine persona myself. So of course I said yes. But then last night I was brainstorming marketing ideas with Brian from Amazon who said I needed to up my brand into the stratosphere. Three hours later, my brain had definitely exploded into the stratosphere.

Yes, I was hooked from an early age.
No matter who you are, there is always opportunity to grow and learn, and that is what I will be doing for, well, forever. So how am I'm planning on pumping up my brand? To start, I am going to learn all that I can about the super hero universe. Yeah, that's going to be a big undertaking, but I'll start by taking baby steps. I'm also going to be networking my butt off and talking to as many people in the industry as I can to learn from their experiences. You know how much I love to interview people :)

How will this improve my writing and add to my brand? I find that the more one person is steeped in creativity, the more creative they will become. I will also be building relationships with my readers that go deeper than just my books. And at the least I'll be able to stare at dreamy pics of Captain America and Gambit.
