Decadently Delicious

It's that time of year again. Everybody is making sweet treats to deliver to their friends and neighbors. I had a neighbor drop off some crock pot candy just yesterday. It was very yummy and very appreciated. I'm going to have to look up the recipe. But, as we were eating it, my youngest asked me if I could make him some of my fudge.

Is there anything more decadent than fudge? It's got a lovely rich, satin like texture. And it just kind of melts in your mouth leaving you completely satisfied. But I've heard it's kind of tricky to make. I don't do tricky. I'm kind of a klutz in all rooms but most especially in the kitchen. Which is why I scoured the internet years ago looking for an easy fudge recipe. And this is what I found:

Holly Jolly fudge:

Ingredients:

3 cups Semisweet or Milk Chocolate Chips
1 14 oz can condensed milk
1/8 t salt
1 t vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Place the chocolate chips in a 2 qt bowl and microwave for 1 minute, then stir them with a wooden spoon. If not completely melted, microwave for 30 more seconds, then stir until smooth.

2. Stir in the condensed milk, salt and vanilla extract.

3. Line a 9" square pan with parchment paper, extending about 2" on each side (for easy removal).

4. Spread the mixture evenly in pan.

5. Chill the candy until firm, about 30 minutes in freezer or 1 hour in refrigerator.

6. Lift the paper from the pan and place on flat surface. Cut fudge into pieces and enjoy!!!

I always leave the fudge in the fridge. I don't know if it needs refrigeration or not, but I'm a better safe than sorry kind of gal.

It doesn't get simpler ingredient wise or easier to make than that. And I think we could all use a little simplification and easy this time of year.

Happy holidays from all of us here at the Decadent Divas!
