10 of the sexiest things about an alpha male

I'm pretty sure there are more than ten. Hell, he has more than ten body parts, doesn't he?

There are things about that strong male that makes him sexy. Some are physical and some come from within. And with the help my daughter and my BFF I compiled a list of ten that popped into our minds first.

1. His smile. Got to love a man who knows how to smile and make others smile with him

2. Abs! Rock hard, tanned, or not, and lickable. Tee Hee. Need I say more?

3. His scent. I'm talking his natural scent. No perfumes or colognes. Us humans don't notice like vampires and shifters and other creatures lurking about would. But we do pick up his scent when close to him.

4. Tattoos. I don't know about you, but tats fascinate me. Gives me something else to trace...with my tongue.

5. His voice. Deep, husky, and soft. And oh, the things he whispers in your ears...

6. His touch. This one depends on the mood. It's tender when you need it and demanding when you need it. ;)

7. He stands beside his woman, not in front of her. He's always there to catch her too.

8. Protectiveness. Who doesn't like to feel safe? Knowing that he will do anything to protect me, yeah that's sexy.

9. Compassionate. He's not afraid of showing his softer side.

10. His hands. Rough, soft, or in between. It's all how he uses them.

What do you think? Do you have anything to add to the list? Care to expand on one or more of my ten? Share your thoughts. What makes the alpha male sexy to you?

In the Defense of Sexy

My social media is full of memes right now that stress the importance of finding a man who loves and not lusts after you. Find one who kisses your forehead and not your lips (okay, that one I don't even get. My husband kissed me on the forehead yesterday and it made me laugh). Find one who cherishes you, not desires you. And if that's not bad enough, it's also full with blog posts that tell me I shouldn't be wearing yoga pants because it might make random men *sarcastic frighten voice* find me sexy. The blogs make this seem like the worst fait in the world. But, really, when did someone finding me attractive become something to be afraid of?

And while I shake my head and laugh these off, I realize they pose a societal problem. We're teaching women they shouldn't want passion, desire, or to be seen as sexy. Yes, you should want your mate to love, cherish, and adore you. But one set of emotions isn't exclusive of the other. You can love the person you lust after. Just because you desire a person doesn't mean you can't cherish them as well. As to the yoga pants, I can't control what other people think about me and even if I could-what's wrong with someone finding me sexy? It's too much pressure. And, at the end of the day, we're just making ourselves miserable.

Obviously every relationship and every person is different. I appreciate that. Some people don't want sexy in their life. I'm good with that. But please don't push your ideas onto the next generation. I'm a confident woman who's been married for eighteen years (this November) and the meme's and posts have an affect on me. I start to question myself. I can only imagine the affect they have on younger women who are in a new relationship.

Happy Halloween!

Every year, Halloween kind of takes me by surprise. I'm not sure why. I know it's there. It's not like Easter. It doesn't move around on the calendar. But, still, it kind of comes out of nowhere. This year is no exception. Would you think I'm the world's worst mother if I tell you we don't have costumes for our kids yet? We don't. We're going to go get them tonight, however. I know, I know, that's really waiting for the last minute.

This comes as even more of a surprise to me because of how much I love Halloween. It's the one holiday that's all about candy, dressing up, and having fun. I can't think of another holiday that's more of a party than Halloween. Thanksgiving is all about food. Christmas is all about gifts (even in the religious terms, Jesus was a gift to us). Easter is all about family and redemption. They're all fun, but none are actually built around having fun.

So, this year for Halloween, I've decided I'm going to go all out for fun. Kind of my way of saying sorry to the holiday for pushing it off to the last minute. I'm going to go to my friend's house for pizza, take the kiddos trick or treating, and then (when everybody's gone off to sleep) I'm going to stay up and read an erotic horror! Because really, does it get any more fun than sexy-scary? There are a ton of them out there to pick from as well. I went to the Ellora Cave's Shivers page and found one that looks good....

Here's the blurb that sold me:

“He who makes wishes of the damned must accept the consequences of releasing them.”
Returning home from the Great War, Graham longs for something he fears he no longer deserves—Anna, the love he left behind three years ago. When a mysterious old woman begs him to retrieve a trinket, then disappears, Graham is compelled to rub the tinderbox and make a wish. He wishes to have Anna by his side…and she suddenly appears! They want the night to explore and pleasure each other.

But the tinderbox’s black magic is powerful and brings a price—a horde of walking corpses that will stop at nothing to sate their craving for flesh.
Additional wishes can’t drive the ravenous dead back into their graves. They only succeed in raising an army of zombies that will destroy everyone in their path—starting with Graham and Anna.

A Romantica® paranormal erotic horror romance from Ellora’s Cave

A Decadent Diva Welcome to Shelli Stevens and Highland Fling!

Please join me in welcoming Shelli Stevens and her latest, and final, book in the McLaughlin series Highland Fling.

And here's Shelli...

Thanks for having me here today! I loved writing the McLaughlin series, and Delonna and Aleck's book was so awesome to write. Their story has been building throughout the entire series. They're beautiful, wounded souls drawn together in a explosive chemistry.

BLURB

Sleeping with her boss can only lead to trouble. And pleasure.

The McLaughlins, Book 4

Delonna comes by her Scottish-style frugality honestly—her parents’ spendthrift ways once left her temporarily homeless. She’s been tending bar at McLaughlin’s Pub, looking forward to the day she can call her own shots. Until her now ex-boyfriend makes off with her hard-earned savings. Now she’s got a bookie breathing threats down her neck in an apparent attempt to squeeze blood from a turnip.

Aleck McLaughlin has three good reasons to keep his hands off the delectable Delonna. One, he’s her boss. Two, she’s a good ten years younger. Three, he’s sworn to never again leave his heart vulnerable.

Her predicament sends all those reasons out the window, and Aleck moves her in with him for protection, then whisks her away on a whirlwind trip from Whidbey Island to Scotland.

The romance of being in Edinburgh only increases their need for one another. But it quickly becomes clear they’re facing a past that’s just as painful as the present is dangerous…

Warning: A sexy, broody, pub owner determined to seduce his flirty, bombshell bartender. Not-so-hidden dangers, travels to Scotland, and maybe a little spanky panky.

Short Excerpt
"What kind of fookin' bastart do you take me for?" he demanded.
She didn't try to escape his grasp, but now lifted her chin and met his anger head on.
"Well you had plans to screw someone else, so maybe you figured you'd pull a Boy Scout move with me and get lucky at the same time."
"I helped you last night because I'm a nice guy. I can be one, you realize, when I want to be." He slid his fingers down her arm to join their hands. "And I'm a bit curious at how you'd know all about my so-called plan to get laid last night."
"Let's just say a little birdie told me."
He glanced at the door behind her, and wagered that if he were to open it he'd find his sister sitting at the bar.
"A little birdie named Kenzie, perhaps?"
"Does it matter?"
"Aye, it does." He pulled her flush against him and this time she did look alarmed.
"Because I suspect I don't need to dress up as a knight in shining armor to get you into bed, Delonna."
She made a little gasp and her eyes went even wider--if that were possible.
"You cocky mother--"
"Your mouth is really much better suited for kissing than cursing, luv."
Before she could finish ripping him a new one, he dipped his head and claimed her lips.
It wasn't a need that had begun last night. Not even one from that kiss over the summer. It had been simmering on the back burner from the minute he'd hired her.

Books, Cowboys and Margaritas- Anna Visits San Antonio

On July 22nd, me and 2000 of my fellow writers descended on San Antonio, Texas for the Romance Writers of America National Conference. The focus of the conference is how to succeed in the romance novel writing industry, but of course us authors like to mix a whole lot of fun with our business. My favorite part of conference is reconnecting with writers I only see once or twice a year. Conversation and cocktails flow like water, and you pretty much resign yourself to little or no sleep for the week. I made some new friends, attended fantastic workshops and had a great time. Here are some of the highlights of my trip.

Anna Alexander and Alyssa Alexander
Alyss and I at the book fair.
The book fair featured 500 authors. Lynda Aicher was my book fair neighbor again, and we were joined by one of my “cousins,” Alyssa Alexander.  She’s so sweet.

Amazon hosted a party and featured a photo op with some local fellows. Cowboy Wes and I bonded over a love of comic books. He’s a Green Lantern fan.

Best Novella!
Anna Alexander and sexy cowboy
Cameron was so cute. And so young!
Across the street was the Passionate Ink party where I was a double finalist in the Passionate Plume awards. Hero Unmasked won third place in the paranormal category and A Night at The Cavern WON FIRST PLACE for best novella. Cowboy Cameron was there to give me a hug after I received my plume necklace. That’s me behind his flexing biceps. Yes, Thursday was the night for man-candy. :)

I got to cheer when my friend and roomie, Danielle Monsch, picked up her certificate for being a finalist in the Daphne’s for Stone Guardian. And yes, she promised the next Entwined Realms book will be out this fall.

Heather likes to hide.
I enjoyed many restaurants along the Riverwalk, including the British pub where karaoke blared unexpectedly, and Saltgrass, home of the Man-gria. That drink was huge! Seriously, everything is bigger in Texas. Shelli Stevens introduced me to the Menger Hotel’s haunted bar, and Jenna Bayley-Burke and I tried to teach Heather Greye how to take a selfie in front of the Alamo. We’re still working on that.

Jennie Lin hosted a gathering and shared her spectacular view. Deanna Chase, Roxie Rivera, Minx Malone, Angie Fox and Viv Arend shared some kick-ass indie publishing knowledge with me, and I discovered Violet Vaughn has a very deviant mind, as well as cute shoes. I also got to chat with Alyssa Day at the chapter leadership luncheon. Don’t be surprised if you see me run for RWA national office in a few years.
Thanks for sharing the view Jennie!
Dani and I with the lovely Karen Rose

At the RITA/Golden Heart awards I cheered on my fellow chapter members Asa Maria Bradley and Anthea Lawson for their nominations, and finished compiling photo for my mini-movie, Peep-Toes and Cocktails. You know how I love shoes.

Yep, the clock says 3am and
my taxi arrives in 30 minutes. No
sleep for Anna.
There was so much more, but this post is getting long as it is. Find me sometime and I’ll fill you in on the rest. Hopefully at the next conference, you’ll be there having fun with me.

Until next time!

If I ever met a sexy alien...

If I ever met a sexy alien...

by Jessica E. Subject

Hello, and thank you for joining me at Decadent Divas! A huge thanks to Rebecca Royce who invited me to be a guest on the blog today! When I first started writing, I met a large group of authors through Six Sentence Sunday, one of them being Rebecca. We got to know each other a bit, and when the 1Night Stand line started at Decadent Publishing, she suggested I submit a science fiction romance story there for the line. Well, that was over three years ago, and I now have twenty-three stories published under two names, and my first multi-author anthology (Sci Spanks) has just released.

Anyway, let’s talk about aliens, my favorite thing to write about. There was a time in my life where if I had met an alien, I would have run away screaming, afraid they would want to abduct me into their spaceship, perform experiments, or worse. This belief had much to do with the movies SIGNS, and living in a farmhouse surrounded by corn fields at the same time. The fear traveled with me when we moved back to the city.

It was a fear I had to get over and fast, with children in the house. Except for a fictional movie, I had no basis for this fear. I’ve always believed in aliens, but why did they have to be scary? Why can’t they be sexy? My favorite superhero is Superman, and he’s a sexy alien.

In many of my stories, a character is meeting an alien for the first time, whether set up with them by the magical Madame Eve of the 1Night Stand series, or finding them living next door. Though how the characters react to learning of this news tends to vary.

Some run away, letting fear control their action. Others simply don’t believe and need to see proof. In my debut release, Celestial Seduction, Carrie is shocked and scared when she first learns of Frey’s true identity. But then curiosity takes over, followed by lust. This is exactly how I think I would react in her position. And it would be an experience I would never forget.

Now, I welcome the chance to meet an alien, especially if they are as hunky as in the books I read and write. If the space visitors happen to resemble those in INDEPENDENCE DAY, WAR OF THE WORLDS, or even SIGNS, I’d stare in awe for a few moments before I turned and ran. LOL

What would you do if you met an alien? Would it matter if he/she was sexy or not?

Author Bio:

Jessica E. Subject is the author of contemporary and science fiction romance, ranging from sweet to erotica. In her stories, you could meet clones, or a sexy alien or two. You may even be transported to another planet for a romantic rendezvous. If you’re looking for something really steamy, check out her stories written as Paisley Brown.

When Jessica isn't reading, writing, or doing dreaded housework, she likes to get out and walk. Fast. But she just may slow down if there is a waterfall nearby.

Jessica lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and two energetic children. And she loves to hear from her readers. You can find her at jessicasubject.com and on twitter @jsubject.
