Tarnished Honor By Sabrina York
From the Incomparables, Heroes of Waterloo

Daniel Sinclair is a broken man with wounds that are physical and spiritual. He’s weighed down by grief and guilt that he could not save his friend, Graeme Lennox, and is convinced that a French lance left him less than a man. He has no prospects. Nothing left but his tarnished honor. But then he meets a vexing boy who makes him question even that.

Fia Lennox’s world turned on its end with her brother’s death. She’s gone in one fell swoop from lady to servant…to a woman on the run. The world is a dangerous place for a woman alone—even when she is masquerading as a boy—so when she meets up with a strong, valiant ex-cavalryman, she decides to become his traveling companion. Whether he likes it or not.

Battling villains, would-be-friends and their own finely-forged battlements, Fia and Daniel rush toward their destiny, a scorching passion and, hopefully, redemption. Can love conquer all? Even the ghosts of the past?

Hannah and the Highlander by Sabrina York
First in a brand-new series about the bold, brawny men of the Scottish Highlands--and the lovely lasses who bring them to their knees…

Highlanders are her weakness.

Hannah Dounreay has no time for suitors who only seem interested in her family's land, which she manages as well as any man. If she marries, she wants to be loved for the educated, independent woman she is. But when a strong, silent--and spectacularly handsome--Highlander saves her from a violent attack, her heart is stirred. Who is this man? And if he asks for Hannah's hand, will she be able to resist him?

Love is the most powerful weapon of all.

Alexander Lochlannach, Laird of Dunnet, has no time to lose. The Highlands are in an uproar as clans battle for land--without mercy--and Alexander can't afford to fall for the wildly attractive, strong-willed Hannah. What's more, he has a desperate secret, one that could destroy them both. But as their attraction turns into an all-consuming passion, Alexander has no choice but to prove to Hannah that he's the only man for her--body and soul…

AN UNDENIABLE PASSION
With flaming red hair and a temper to match, Susana is not some innocent farmgirl who gives herself over easily to a man, even one as ruggedly handsome as Andrew. Change isn't always a bad thing

I hate when my routine changes. It takes me so long to get "back on track" when something comes up and changes things. That is mostly because I fight the schedule change or life routine change. I think I will always do so, but I'm learning to adjust with the change.

Writing full time is harder. No, that's not right. Working from home, is hard. People around you think because you are home, you can just stop what you are doing and do for them. Or you have those you think you are mooching off you husband so you don't have to work. But that is a rant post for another time. lol.

In April, my daughter and I got 50/50 timeshare (Florida doesn't call it custody anymore.)  of my granddaughter (long story). We have her one week on, one week off. Well on the weeks she is here, My writing time has gone back to early mornings and late nights, just like it was when I worked a day job. You'd think I can catch up on weeks we don't have her, right? Wrong. I have errands to run and "people" in my house have things that need to be done. This is a change I'm still fighting. I'm real close to renting me an office so I can leave the house to work. Then I'd have to get dress. and I love working in my PJs.

Another big change that is coming, and I'm looking forward to has to do with the genre that I write. I've reached the point where I'm real close to being burnt out. Sales have dipped this summer. The trends in the romance industry is changing, again. So after talking with a couple of great author friends who have noticed the same things as I did, I've decided to add a new series and a new pen name.

In 2016 I'll start writing cozy mysteries under Aleah Raynes. I'm looking forward to this. I love mysteries and I love adding humor and twists to stories.

Lia Davis is not going away, so don't worry. Lia has a few new things coming in 2016 as well. I am dipping my toes into SciFi Romance. I spent the last few days, while playing with Bella, building the world and the characters. I'm so excited to start it, but I have to wait until I finish what is on the schedule first.

So change is good. And I feel good about where I'm heading in my writing career for 2016.

Guest Diva: Terri Brisbin -- HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO only 99c

Holding Out for a Medieval Hero – a boxed set from Laurel O’Donnell, Elizabeth Rose, Catherine Kean and Terri Brisbin – is a collection of four, full-length medieval historical romances. If you like your heroines strong and challenged and your heroes brave and fierce, this is the set for you!

In Terri Brisbin’s ONCE FORBIDDEN –
Anice MacNab barely survived the brutal treatment of her now-dead husband and is forced to flee another planned political alliance by seeking the help of the only man she trusts. Robert Mathieson has been denied recognition and refused his heritage, but finds himself drawn into the intrigue surrounding Anice and wanting the one person he cannot have—his half-brother’s wife. Secrets of the past threaten the MacKendimen Clan and vows made will be broken as Robert and Anice seek to claim the love, once forbidden, that could destroy many lives or could unite them forever.

In Catherine Kean’s A KNIGHT’S PERSUASION –
When Lord Edouard de Lanceau finds an unconscious, wounded woman, he recognizes her as Lady Juliana de Greyne, to whom he was almost betrothed. He rushes her to safety, but is captured by his father's enemies. Imprisoned along with Juliana, who has amnesia, he tries to find a way for them to escape. As their forbidden love grows, will her memories finally return, or will the villains destroy all?

In Laurel O’Donnell’s ANGEL’S ASSASSIN –
Damien is an assassin, a man with a tortured past. Sold into slavery, he is trained to kill. Lady Aurora of Acquitaine is the epitome of purity and goodness. When Damien enters Aurora's life, tempting her with promises of forbidden lust, he threatens to tear her peaceful world apart.

In Elizabeth Rose’s SAPPHIRE -
Sapphire de Burgh arrives in Rye to be told her betrothed - a man she's never met - has died, and so she is married off to an evil, abusive baron. But things change dramatically when a mysterious handsome knight returning from war enters her life, and through mistaken circumstances they end up as lovers. But as they both discover, life sometimes takes a wicked turn, when Lord Roe Sexton returns to his castle to find his secret lover is not only married to another man, but is also his stolen bride.

Excerpt of ONCE FORBIDDEN:

Breaking through the last barrier of trees that blocked his view, Robert reined in and dismounted his black stallion. Dunnedin lay afore him, the village spread out to the other forest, the castle and keep in front of him.
     Eight years.
Not a day passed in those years when he did not think about returning. He never knew why he wanted to return--there was nothing here waiting for him.
Dougal made it clear the night of the argument that Robert was no longer his son. His actions in the next weeks were the proof--Dougal shunned him and threw his few meager belongings out of the room they shared in the keep. The insults were the worst. His chest tightened with the memories of the words flung at him in anger.
Bastard son of a lying whore.
At first, he thought it couldn’t be true, the accusations about his mother, dead all those years. But, the look on the laird’s face and his lack of denial about his affair with Dougal’s wife told the truth well enough.
Robert remembered waiting, waiting for Struan to say more after admitting by default to his fathering Glynis’ child. He had held his breath, fisted his hands, and waited. The laird looked at his wife and legitimate son, and then at him.
     Please, please, please.
He’d offered a silent prayer to the Almighty, one that He chose to ignore at the time. ‘Twas not meant to be, then or now. Nothing in Struan’s message e’en acknowledged their true relationship.
And, of course, Robert couldn’t forget that his half-brother had married the MacNab heiress and the marriage was about to bear fruit. There was no need in the clan for a recognition of an additional son--an heir and another on the way protected the future of the MacKendimens.
Robert pulled on the reins of his horse and began walking towards the castle gate. A rock sitting in the pit of his stomach told him that this was probably not a good idea, no matter how much time had passed. Well, if he was lucky, Dougal was beyond expressing his hatred.
What about Struan? This had to grate on him--asking his true son to return to take over the duties of a man everyone in the clan thought was his father. Would anyone know the truth? How would he be treated now? Did they e’en know of the rank and power he held in the clan MacKillop? He may have started out as a steward, overseeing supplies for the castle, but his fighting and strategic abilities soon led him to a higher role--castellan.
Coming back to take over Dougal’s duties was a step down for him and he knew that Duncan thought he did it only because of the family ties involved. He was not certain if Duncan was told the truth or no’. The only one at Dunbarton Keep who was privy to his side of the sad story was Ada. And, she told no tales.
“Come, Dubh, ‘tis the dragging it out that makes it worse.” He rubbed his stallion’s nose and mounted in one jump. The horse snorted steam into the frigid winter air and pawed at the dirt. “They’ll no’ see Robert Mathieson, castellan of Dunbarton, walking into Dunnedin like a common beggar.”

Real Life Versus Fiction

I asked a question on Facebook asking my friends to tell me their love stories with the promise that I would fictionalize them until they worked the way they would in a book. I gave an example of my own. I met my husband in real life in law school. In a book, however, the heroine would be trying to go to school so she could get her father who was wrongly convicted of espionage out of jail when she falls in love with the son of the man who put him there.
Fiction v. Real Life.
Here are some of the stories I got.
(And for the record I have cut and paste straight from Facebook. I have copied and pasted. Any terms used are not my own.)
Maria Michelle Varley I met my partner through a friend who set up a blind date. Went to local close to my house had a drink then went bowling with said friend of mine and his friend who were dating also.
My fictionalized version: Small town romance.  Heroine has sworn off men after losing her fiancé in a terrible accident. She agrees to go on a date to make her friend happy and falls in love with the hero who was once her late fiancé’s friend.
Melissa A Keir I met my husband when I was his oldest son's teacher. His ex suggested that we date because she knew I had gotten a divorce. We went out for the first time that summer after I was his son's teacher and walked around Target.
My fictionalized version: Melissa, yours is pretty close to a romance novel. But here we go.  Here and his ex are still on good terms but he’s sworn off love.  Too messy.  And there’s a child involved.  Ex-wife knows she did the heroine wrong.  She made bad decisions and since she is dying of an incurable disease she is determined to set the hero up before she passes.  Heroine is really good with children, really bad with adults.  But she’s always been in love with the hero and his ex knew it.  Lots of emotional bumps.
Trina M. Lee Neat idea! I was googling for info about a local battle of the bands concert. The search results brought me to a bass player's live journal page because he'd mentioned said concert in a post (he was playing in it). On a whim I messaged him to say hi. We became good friends for a couple years and then we became more.
My fictionalized version: Hmmm. Okay, it has to be vampires.  Or a vampire. Heroine is googling info for a local battle of the bands (because that is so cool) and brings up results of elusive bass player who never gives interviews except his blog which draws fans.  She messages him and for some reason he answers. Turns out he is a vampire.  He plays his soul into the music…
Melisse Aires Lol, hubby and I met in a hippy dippy home church back in the Jezus freak days(daze).
My fictionalized version: Hmmm. Okay, let’s make it a cult.  Hero and heroine raised in a cult under the thumb of a dynamic but abusive leader who wants to marry the heroine to join his five other wives.  Hero defies upbringing to rescue her and save her from her horrific fate.
Beckey White I meet my husband thru a co-worker ... It was Her husband's best friend... They got tired of him going "dateless" on "date" night...
That was May of 1999 (16 years ago...)
We got married on 3-13-13 (why you may ask- if you take the ones and angle them to form the v and place the 3 horizontal you get a heart and then you take to other two threes and you can make a four leaf clover- luck of the Irish  in the month of all thing Irish - Corny I know)
My fictionalized version: Lets go with the Irish angle.  The Fae.  Prince of the Fairy Folk tired of his advisor going without love. Sets them up.  But the enforcer can only get married on a specific day or he loses his powers…
Sheri Vidal I met my husband at this college program trust fall day. He was the photographer for the day and kept taking pictures of me falling off things lol
My fictionalized version: Same idea. I love the trust fall aspect.  But let’s have him take a picture of her and catch the guy who has been stalking her in the background.  Now the crazy guy is after both of them…
Danielle Pierce: I met my husband when a friend brought him to an Irish bar to forget about the woman who left on his first honeymoon. His waiter was neglectful, so I took over, but messed up his order a bit. For the past 19 years, we have been together but he knows that he should probably just get the drinks himself.
My fictionalized version: Hero knew her a decade before when he was too shy to talk to her in high school. Goes to the bar (same meet-cute) but she doesn’t remember him…
Stacia D. Kelly: How fun! Nick and I met working at a Dialysis Clinic. I'd graduated 6months early from college and came home to work. He loves to comment that he can survive anything as he worked for his MIL for 9 years.
My fictionalized version: I think we have to go with sick patient here.  (who will get better.) One working in the clinic, one needing treatment…
Dawn: I met my husband when I was coming outta the bushes- I ran right into his chest, said hello and ran off smile emoticon.
My fictionalized version: So, its gotta be running from something.  Coming through the bushes having escaped a kidnapping.  Slamming into…the Alpha of the local werewolf pack.  And you are his mate…
Rebekah McCleary Trevelise I met my husband through my divorce attorney. We were both getting a divorce, and he was representing both of us! My attorney, Charles, kept telling me, "You have got to meet this guy. You have so much in common. You are both so rational. I just need to get him divorced first!"
My fictionalized version: I think you add CRAZY exes and this is already a love story for the books.
Janice Clark: How about a women semi Truck driver falling in love with her trainee who just got out of the Army.
Fictionalized Version: I love this. Already a story….

This was fun for me. Hope it was for you too.

What happens when characters create dating profiles for each other?

We’re about to find out. I asked Jared and Sable from Jaguar’s Judgment to create a dating profile for each of other. I’m very interested in seeing what they came up with, so I brought them with me today.

Hello, guys. Thanks for coming and sharing your profiles with us.
Sable: You’re welcome. I had fun creating my profile for Jared. I think I nailed him.
Jared: [grows but one side of his mouth lifts] I’m not sure if fun would be the word I’d use, but I have put together Sable’s profile.

Lia: I have a hunch that we’ll have more fun listening to you read them. Sable, why don’t you go first?

Sable: [smiles wide] My pleasure. So here’s Jared prefect dating profile.

Dark, sexy jaguar seeking strong, confident female.

Name: Jared Nickels
Age: old
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Height: 6’ 2”
Species: black jaguar

Short Bio: I’m a born justice and lived most my life as a lone-cat until my parents passed away and left my baby sister in my care. I like quiet evenings at home and long runs under the full moon.

Prefect Mate: She’s strong, confident, and caring. A great mother to cubs. And she won’t hesitate to kill to protect her family.

Warning: this is for entertainment purpose only. Jared is happily mated to a female who will kill to protect what is hers.

Jared: [presses his lips together before speaking] Was the warning necessary?
Sable: Yes.
Jared: Un huh. Well I did mine a little different and less online mating site style.

Sable Darwin-Nickels, if she was available—which she is not—is strong, stubborn, a caring and protective mother, and beautiful. She likes to be dominated, but only on her terms. She loves chick flicks, spending time with her son, and making rogues pay for their sins. If you enjoy beatings by her jealous mate, give her a call.

Sable: [crosses her arms and glares at him] You are not funny.
Jared: [shrugs] I never said I was. But I did say you were beautiful.
Sable: You did…
Jared: Besides you described yourself in the perfect female part of yours.
Sable: [moves to sit in his lap] Because I’m your mate and no one else can have you.
Jared: The same goes for you.
Sable: I’ll have it no other way.

Lia: That went better than I’d expected. I mean, sometimes they can be a little… well, they can misbehave and things can get too heated if you know what I mean.

Thanks for coming by. You can read Jared and Sable’s story in Jaguar’s Judgment (Ashwood Falls, book 6)

A Few Of My Favorite Things....

The weather is cooling off and football has returned for another season. It's official. Autumn is here! I'm always super excited this time of year. Fall is my favorite season. And here are the top five reasons I love the season so much.

5. The weather cools down-
I am not a cold weather person. Simply put, I don't like being cold. If I'm going to be too cold or
too hot, I will always pick too hot. That's one of the reasons we moved to Texas. But there is
something refreshing about the cooler weather of fall as it chases the stifling weather of summer
    away.

4. Open windows-
Now that the weather is cooling off, we can open our windows and air out the house again. I'm
forever grateful for air conditioning. It makes the summer comfortable. But it does tend to make
the house feel stale. I'm always happy when I can open up the windows and take a deep
    breath.

3. Snuggles under the covers-
Okay, full disclosure, I'm a snuggles kind of person. I'll snuggle even if it's 103 degrees
in my house. But snuggling does become more comfortable when it starts to cool off.

2. Football-
I love the sport. I love having it on the television. I love tailgating. And I love going
to watch games in person. It's just fun. I'm always glad when it starts up again.

1. School-
The kiddos have returned to school. Which is both a good and bad thing. It's stressful
to keep up with their homework and schedule but I have my house back. I can finally
get to some of the projects I put off during the summer.

So what is your favorite season?

Tip Your Housekeeper by Zenobia Renquist

When’s the last time you stayed in a hotel (or motel)? For me, that was June 2015 for the Reader-Author Get Together (RAGT) convention in Ohio. Great convention, by the way. If you can get in (registration fills up fast), I highly recommend it. But I digress…

When you stay in a hotel, it’s customary to tip people. You tip the valet, who parks your car. You tip the bellhop, who helped get your luggage up to your room. You tip the server, who carries up the food ordered through room service. Did you tip your housekeeper?

For a lot of people, the answer is probably no. You didn’t even think about it. I know I never did until a friend mentioned it to me. The housekeeper cleaned the room before you occupied it and will clean the room after you leave. The housekeeper kept you in fresh towels and made your bed, if you wanted. So like the valet, the bellhop, and the server, shouldn’t the housekeeper get a tip too?

The answer is yes. But how do you give a housekeeper a tip if you don’t see him/her? Simple. On the day you checkout, leave the tip (whatever amount you deem fit) on the pillow. Leaving the tip on the pillow is a signal to the housekeeper that the money is a tip. And believe me, it is much appreciated because most people don’t think to tip the housekeeper.

Now Mr. Malena from VIP Room Service (Other Related Duties #1)—now on sale for 99¢ (regularly $2.99)—had no issues giving Lexie, his housekeeper, a substantial tip. Way more than is customary. He only asked for a little bit of extra service to go with it…

VIP Room Service (Other Related Duties #1) by Zenobia Renquist

A hotel erotica tale hot enough to set the screen on fire.

She offers satisfaction above and beyond what is requested.

Lexie's job as a maid at a five-star hotel doesn't normally include the unique and risqué form of room service that rich guest Mr. Malena has requested, nor the generous tip he's offered. Submission and exhibition and a ménage. Lexie can't resist. What should have been a one-time thing turns into an introduction into the sensual world of customer satisfaction. This is one workplace encounter that could get her fired...or will it?

Lexie backed up a step.
“Now, now. Don’t be frightened. Nothing untoward. I promise.”
She snorted. “What exactly is your definition of untoward? I just rode a bottle for your wanking pleasure.”
“That’s all part of wine service. As is what comes next.”
“Next?”
“I didn’t bring it up last night because of how skittish you were, but there is more to it than stuffing that beautiful pussy of yours with a five-hundred-dollar bottle of Chardonnay.”
“Five hun—” She choked on the word. She’d been riding a bottle of Chardonnay that cost five hundred dollars. True, she knew nothing about wines or why one cost more than another—beyond age—but hadn’t known a single bottle could cost five hundred dollars.
“Yes. In honor of you and your first night. I thought it appropriate a five-hundred-dollar woman should ride a five-hundred-dollar bottle.” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Does it get you hot to think about it?”
“You’re insane.” She laughed. “You’re also joking.”
“I’m not. Call Franceska if you don’t believe me.” He gestured to the phone.
She looked at the bottle and then at him. “Five hundred dollars?”
“Yes.”
“Wow.” She’d never had anything that pricey between her legs. Her most expensive toy had barely broken the two hundred mark, and here she’d used a five-hundred-dollar bottle of Chardonnay to get off. “So what else is there? Sex, right?”
“If you want, but not what I had in mind right this instance.” He chuckled. “I’m not as spry as I used to be. I need a little more time to regain my stamina.”
“You look plenty spry to me.” She eyed his semi-erect dick. It hadn’t gone limp after he came. A few well-placed licks would probably have it hard again in an instant.
“Bless you, dear girl. You are good for my ego.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back. “Now then. After riding the bottle comes drinking the wine.”
“I’m on the clock.”
“Not you. Me. And a little shouldn’t hurt your performance.” He gazed into her eyes. “Unless you’re a lightweight.”
“No, but I don’t want someone to smell alcohol on my breath either.”
“True. True. But you won’t be drinking.”
“So why do you need me?”
He kissed her hand again and ran his tongue up to her wrist. “You’re my glass.”
