What happens when characters create dating profiles for each other?

We’re about to find out. I asked Jared and Sable from Jaguar’s Judgment to create a dating profile for each of other. I’m very interested in seeing what they came up with, so I brought them with me today.

Hello, guys. Thanks for coming and sharing your profiles with us.
Sable: You’re welcome. I had fun creating my profile for Jared. I think I nailed him.
Jared: [grows but one side of his mouth lifts] I’m not sure if fun would be the word I’d use, but I have put together Sable’s profile.

Lia: I have a hunch that we’ll have more fun listening to you read them. Sable, why don’t you go first?

Sable: [smiles wide] My pleasure. So here’s Jared prefect dating profile.

Dark, sexy jaguar seeking strong, confident female.

Name: Jared Nickels
Age: old
Eye color: Blue
Hair color: Brown
Height: 6’ 2”
Species: black jaguar

Short Bio: I’m a born justice and lived most my life as a lone-cat until my parents passed away and left my baby sister in my care. I like quiet evenings at home and long runs under the full moon.

Prefect Mate: She’s strong, confident, and caring. A great mother to cubs. And she won’t hesitate to kill to protect her family.

Warning: this is for entertainment purpose only. Jared is happily mated to a female who will kill to protect what is hers.

Jared: [presses his lips together before speaking] Was the warning necessary?
Sable: Yes.
Jared: Un huh. Well I did mine a little different and less online mating site style.

Sable Darwin-Nickels, if she was available—which she is not—is strong, stubborn, a caring and protective mother, and beautiful. She likes to be dominated, but only on her terms. She loves chick flicks, spending time with her son, and making rogues pay for their sins. If you enjoy beatings by her jealous mate, give her a call.

Sable: [crosses her arms and glares at him] You are not funny.
Jared: [shrugs] I never said I was. But I did say you were beautiful.
Sable: You did…
Jared: Besides you described yourself in the perfect female part of yours.
Sable: [moves to sit in his lap] Because I’m your mate and no one else can have you.
Jared: The same goes for you.
Sable: I’ll have it no other way.

Lia: That went better than I’d expected. I mean, sometimes they can be a little… well, they can misbehave and things can get too heated if you know what I mean.

Thanks for coming by. You can read Jared and Sable’s story in Jaguar’s Judgment (Ashwood Falls, book 6)

Sunday sexy excerpt from A Mating Dance by Lia Davis

Hi! Happy Sunday! I thought I'd share a sexy excerpt from an oldie but goodie. Enjoy!

Excerpt: A Mating Dance, Ashwood Falls #2 by Lia Davis

Cameron stood in the shower, letting the hot sprays of water cascade over her body. The body that still tingled from Graham’s touch and that uninvited kiss.
What the hell was wrong with her? She was Blaine’s mate. Yet, she felt a pull toward Graham. It was similar to the mating tug toward Blaine, but it was different. It was a little more electric and sparked a fascination with the male, and a desire that made her body hum. Her senses lit up when she was near him. Her jaguar, however, remained quiet as though she waited for something. Or maybe she was as uncertain as the human half. All she did know was that she wanted to know more about the mountain lion shifter, spend time with him and be the mother of his kids…
No. She wouldn’t go there. She couldn’t. She belonged to Blaine. Besides, kids weren’t in her future. She didn’t really know if they ever would be. Old pain resurfaced, and a hot tear slid down her cheek. All her friends had told her that the miscarriage wasn’t her fault and there wasn’t anything she could have done differently, but it still cut way too deep.
Although she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing, but what?
Graham? She didn’t think so. Blaine would never share her.
That kiss offered false hope and confused the hell out of her.
Why the hell did he have to kiss her?
She heard the shower curtain open before Blaine’s large arms snaked around her waist, and she closed her eyes.
“You still smell like him. He is in your skin. Why is that?”
Shit. She so sucked at lying to him. It wasn’t an option when they’d known each other as long as they had. Twisting to face him, she held his gray gaze and traced a finger down his jaw to his neck. His strong, masculine face softened a little, and he raised one corner of his lips in a disbelieving one-sided grin. Where the hell was the possessive alpha male she’d known since coming to Ashwood at fifteen? “I put Max down for a nap. Dani said he didn’t sleep well last night because of night terrors.”
Silver swirled in his eyes, indicating the leopard was close to the surface. She wasn’t in the mood to fight him, not over Graham. And definitely not over mating.
She gasped as her back touched the cool tile wall. Blaine thrust his hard thigh between her legs, drawing a half-moan, half-growl from her. His mouth came down on hers hard and greedy. She relished the roughness of his touch, loving it. He always knew what she needed and when she needed it.
Right now, she needed to be dominated and taken in the way only Blaine could.
Fisting her hand into his wet hair, she tugged him closer as she thrust her tongue inside his mouth to dance with his. He growled and lifted her legs and thrust inside her at the same time he bit her neck.
Pleasurable pain assailed her, making her cry out as he thrust in and out of her. He cupped her breast, pitching and rolling her taut nipple between his forefinger and thumb. Sparks of desire skidded over her skin and rushed through her blood, making her scream out in release.
When Blaine shuddered out his release, she took his face in her hands and kissed him. He was hers. How could she ever think about straying from him for another?
The water started to cool down, and he pulled out of her, shut the water off, and then stepped out of the shower. He peered at her as though he was trying to read her thoughts when he helped her step out. Pulling her into him, he kissed the tip of her nose and smiled that crooked smile of his, the one that showed he was up to something.
“What?” she asked, returning his smile with a frown.
“I like his scent on you.”
She froze and studied him. He had to be joking, right? “What are you saying?”
He shrugged. “I’m not going to let you go, ever. And if Graham is the missing link, then I think we should pursue him.”
Shock froze her in place. Studying him a little more, she realized he was dead serious. She shook her head, stepped out of his arms, and wrapped a towel around herself. “Oh, no. You are not pushing this off on me. I won’t let you settle for something you don’t want because another male turns me on.” She slapped a hand over her mouth, not believing she had just said that out loud.
Blaine raised an eyebrow. “See? You do want it.”
“But you don’t. Besides, it would never work. Someone would always feel like the third. And someone, maybe all of us, will get hurt.” She pushed past him to go dress. She was not doing this. End of story.
He followed her out into the bathroom and grabbed her from behind, drawing her back against his chest. He leaned in until his lips touched her ear, drawing a shudder from her. “Maybe I do want it.”

For those who love bundles...

I just released the second volume of my Ashwood Falls series. The third volume will release at the beginning of August.

Ashwood Falls Volume Two

Includes: Surrendering to the Alpha, A Rebel’s Heart, and Divided Loyalties

Surrendering to the Alpha
Ashwood Falls book 3

Ashwood Falls’ leopard Alpha, Keegan Andrews holds onto the pain of his deceased mate as his own personal hell—a reminder that not all things are what they seem. The Pack Scribe, Addyson Lewis is no exception. She’s intrigued him like no other since the day she stumbled into Ashwood territory about twenty-five years ago. When he discovers that just being near her calms the storm inside him, he can’t stay away even if it means exposing her to the evil she tried to escape.

A Rebel’s Heart
Ashwood Falls book 3.5

Widow and mother of five full-grown males, Sarah Matthews lives the best she can—one day at a time. Now that her babies are having babies, she relishes in spoiling her grandkids. But her inner mountain lion is restless and Sarah can’t shake the feeling something is lurking in the woods surrounding her home. The unease becomes a reality when a man she thought died with her mate five years ago comes back into her life with trouble on his heels.

Divided Loyalties
Ashwood Falls book 4

Hayden Raines has always followed the rules. As the Ashwood Fall wolf Marshal, he has to set the example for those working under him. When he sets his sights on the beautiful human hunter things go downhill, fast. Fate has a funny way of turning things inside out—because the woman he kidnaps, the enemy he might need to protect his family from, just happens to be his mate.

A Hump Day teaser from Jaguar's Judgment

Happy Wednesday! I'm sharing a teaser from my upcoming release. Jaguar's Judgment (Ashwood Falls #6) which releases on July 21st. I'm so excited to finally share Jared and Sable's story. This story is an enemies to lovers and a second chance romance.

Enjoy!

The light dusting of snow crunched under his shoes as he made his way to the building that had been used for storage until a few weeks ago when Sable had turned herself in. She had fought with the Pack and helped Ana direct her power. Jared understood why. Sable had protected Ana since Felix stole her from her mother’s womb. They were sisters in every way but blood.
The selfless act, knowing she would be taken into custody, added another crack to the wall around his heart.
Jerking the door open, he entered the one-room building and froze mid-step as the floral scent of his mate slammed into him. Closing his eyes briefly, he slowed his breathing and pushed away the storm of desire brewing inside of him.
When he opened his eyes, he scanned the small space. The room didn’t look like a cell. It was a damned apartment. An area rug covered the floor at the center of the room. A mini refrigerator sat in the corner with a microwave on a shelf over it. The only personal item, however, was the female’s duffle bag in the far corner. His gaze found Sable sitting in the middle of a futon with a tablet in hand. “They let you have Internet?”
She didn’t look at him. “It’s bugged. They watch everything I do.”
Her voice carried a hint of tiredness, along with annoyance. He bet the latter was due to his presence. Good. “Find anything interesting?”
She didn’t answer. His cat growled and clawed at him. The man stood his ground in the doorway. The cold breeze helped to keep his mind clear.
“Close the door or leave. Better yet, do both.” She picked up a cell phone and typed something before setting it back down on the cushion next to her.
He tracked her movements, curious who she was texting and why. Without conscious thought, he drifted closer to her. Each step made it hard to maintain control over his need to touch her, yet he couldn’t stay away. Yes, he was an idiot.
The door slammed shut, jarring him out of his thoughts. He snapped his gaze up and met her teal eyes, glaring back at him.
“What do you want?”
You, naked and panting. He shook his head. The lack of sexual release had made him insane. However, Sable was his mate. Enemy or not, he’d want her like no other and wouldn’t rest until he had her. Yep, he was fucked.
“Have you talked to Nigel?” It was the only thing Jared could think of to say. Because “I want to fuck you senseless” just didn’t seem appropriate.
Sable’s lip thinned. “Yes, I speak to him all the time. Like you, he has access to this shack.”
He ignored the growl of irritation in her tone and crossed his arms. “Rhea says he’s very advanced and could start taking some college courses online.”
“I know. I met with the den mother this morning.” Sable returned her attention to the tablet. “Why are you really here, Jared? You’ve never been big on small talk.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about him? Why did I have to find out from Kieran?” Anger filtered into his words. Nigel was his son, and he deserved to know who his father was. “Better yet, why did you tell him I was dead?”
Sable jumped to her feet and came nose-to-nose with him. “You hurt me, Jared. I didn’t want to see you again or have you in our lives. Besides, you were dead to me.”
He peered into her eyes, searching for any sign of untruth, but what he found made his chest constrict around his hammering heart. There was true pain in the depths of that teal-colored gaze. Hardening his stare and masking his own emotions from her, he bit out, “Your betrayal wounded the bond, not me.”
She didn’t flinch at his harsh tone. She’d always been good at hiding behind that sheet of ice around her heart. “What was I supposed to say? Oh, by the way, my father is the boogieman of the shifter world? The king of all bastards. I’m sure that would have gone over well.”

The fun with stubborn characters

I'm currently working on book 6 of the Ashwood Falls series. The couple in this story is one I've set up and strung along from the beginning. So you can say the couple has always been in head and pieces of the story has come to me as I write the others. I thought their story would be easy to write and flow without issues. After all I know all the important parts and have a good connection with both Jared and Sable.

So what's the issue? They are stubborn. They have a past together and neither one is willing to give an inch right now. I want to lock them up in a room somewhere, but they are like "no it doesn't work that way." Well, i know that but a writer can try, right?

Now I'm faced with letting them tell their story. But it's hard when I know where it should go and how it should end. The control freak in me wants things to go as planned. Jared and Sable apparently have other ideas. One thing I've learned over the years is the characters will win. It is their story after all.

What is your favorite enemy to lovers story?

Happy St. Patty's Day, plus some news from Lia

Hello and Happy St. Patrick day. Are you wearing green? I am. *grins* I have some news for Ashwood Falls fans. Book 5 is now available for pre-order!!

A Leopard’s Path
Ashwood Falls #5

Stolen from her family as an infant, Ana Darwin-Andrews has to piece together her past and present. Her whole life is a lie. There’s only one man she feels she can trust, but even he has secrets.

Kieran Michaels keeps a tight lid on his past, but the Onyx Alpha knows his darkest secrets. Kieran will stop at nothing to destroy the rogue before the past is reveled. Ana can never discover his hands are as bloodstained as their enemy’s, because life without her is not an option.

Exclusive excerpt:

Her whole life was a lie.
Well, not her life exactly. Her biological father wasn’t the one she’d grown up knowing. Keegan Andrews wasn’t anything like the man who raised her. The monster, Felix, who’d stolen her from her true family and taught her to believe the Ashwood Falls Pack—the one she should have grown up in—was the enemy. The only thing Felix didn’t lie about was the fact that her mother was dead. He’d just left out the part where he was the one who killed her and stole Ana from her womb.
Ana clenched her teeth and gripped her coffee mug a little tighter. Life since coming to Ashwood and meeting her real family had been…nice. And challenging. Some of the younger Pack members still stared at her like they were waiting for her to turn on everyone. She couldn’t blame them really.
Releasing a sigh, Ana fingered the rose-shaped locket she’d worn for as long as she could remember. When she’d met Keegan in the summer, he’d told her it had belonged to her mother, Cate. It was she who’d picked the name Zorana. While Ana loved the name, she had always felt it a bit too exotic for her.
You can’t dwell on the past forever.
Ana forced her muscles to relax and leaned against the doorframe of the MoonRiver house she was temporarily staying in with Blaine—her brother and leopard Alpha of Ashwood Falls—and his two mates. She sipped her coffee as snow flurries drifted from the sky. The crisp early winter air soothed her cat, even while it tantalized the woman. She loved winter, loved the cold and snow. However, the sight in front of her was far from the magickal image she’d expect from the first snowfall.
MoonRiver used to be the wolves’ den before they merged their Pack with Ashwood. Now, Ana saw the full impact of the war that had pushed Luna to merge her wolves with the leopards over thirty years ago. Few homes still stood, and those that did were not unscathed. Others were either completely destroyed or just plain uninhabitable. The sight made the attack on Ashwood a few months ago appear like a training exercise in comparison.
Shame, pain, and outright rage whirled inside Ana like a cyclone. She had once called the monster responsible for all this Father. Not anymore. The dark veil had been lifted, and now she saw the truth.
Felix Darwin would pay for every life he’d destroyed.
And she was going to help make it happen.
