The
publishing industry moves in cycles. Some years it’s all about billionaires and
other years secret babies are popular or historical romance or vampires. You
get the picture. But honestly, I really don’t know any dedicated romance readers
who pay much attention to the trends. They know what they like and manage to
find it.
The
industry has changed a lot in the past fifteen years with the advent of ebooks
and now self-publishing. Readers no longer have to wait for books to be popular
in order to find a book they want to buy. I also love that there are dedicated
epublishers out there willing to take a chance on an idea that may not fit the
mainstream as well.
Which
brings me to drakons—the offspring of dragons who visited our world about 4000
years ago and human women. They practically immortal, but really have no idea
how long they’ll live. They have
the cunning, strength, preternatural abilities, and instincts of the dragon,
along with the intellect and emotions of a human. A deadly combination. And
unlike their sires, their base form is that of a human. While their dragon
fathers could hold a human form for a short span of time, a drakon can inhabit
either human or dragon form indefinitely.
As
you can well imagine, living in modern times does pose some unique challenges.
When they shift to their dragon form, where can they fly? And how can they risk
falling in love when they’re hunted for their blood, which prolongs the lives
of humans.
They’re
my creation and I love them. Or rather, they are allowing me to write their
stories. Honestly, I’ve always said that writing for me is like taking
dictation. I sit at the keyboard and wait for the characters to speak. And
after more than 13 years of publishing and 90+ books it seems to work for me.
My
modern drakons evolved from a futuristic novella I wrote for a now closed
publisher more than a decade ago. I wanted to write more drakon stories, but
this time I wanted to bring them into the modern world...our world. And thus
was born the Blood of the Drakon series. The fourth book is due out on January 29th
and I couldn’t be happier. And I’m not done yet. There are more drakon books
coming.
Blood
of the Drakon, Book 4
Constance Owens
has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in
handy since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she
purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they
are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men
who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon
shifters.
Nic hasn’t
survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn’t
trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been
getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. And when he finds
the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he’ll
ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she’s involved with the
secret society of hunters who have been hunting and capturing his kind for
hundreds of years.
