Guest Post and CONTEST: Nancy Corrigan

Ten unique things about small towns

My Sander’s Valley series is set in a fictional, farming community in Pennsylvania. I picked it because…well, I love small towns! I’ve lived in big cities, suburban areas, and rural areas. Here are the top ten differences I’ve noticed.

In a small town…

10. There’s often only one diner, one drugstore, and one fancy restaurant. (Fancy is defined as having a menu, whether it’s a paper or a laminated one.)

9.  There are multiple bars, sometimes one on every street.

8.  When you walk into any business, people welcome you be name.

7.  Dating your best friend’s ex-girlfriend is common and acceptable. So is running into multiple exes on any given day.

6.  The best person to ask for gossip is usually the mailman.

5.  Discussions on everything from world peace to the local chili contest can be had at the local diner.

4.  You don’t have to worry about getting locked out of your house. It’s rarely locked, and if for some reason it is, your neighbor has a key.

3.  People will notice a change in your routine immediately and question you about it.

2.  If you get in trouble, everyone will find out and never let you forget it.

And finally…when you need help, there’s always somebody there to give it to you.

So, tell me. What do you love (or hate) about them?

Sander’s Valley, 2

Wyn Sander is surprised when his brother Kyle asks him to be best man at his wedding. Wyn’s even more shocked to learn the woman who later walks into his garage is Ronnie’s half-sister, Iona. He’s instantly attracted to her. She’s sophisticated, beautiful, and confident. At least she is until Wyn stands up. She flinches and a look of terror passes over her face. It bothers him to see. Luckily, desire replaces it, but it doesn’t stop Wyn’s curiosity. For the first time in his life, he wants to find out what made Iona fearful and fix it.

Iona can’t believe her luck. The man she lusts after is her new sister’s soon to be brother-in-law. The kiss they share shatters her, but her attempt to stop any involvement with him ends up with her agreeing to three dates. She decides Wyn is unlike any man she’s ever known, and it’s unfortunate she can’t enjoy him. She isn’t in the market for a boyfriend. All she wants is sex. The only problem is—she doesn’t think Wyn sees things her way.

Short blurb:

When Wyn sees Iona, he falls hard. Iona’s not so sure—their chemistry is explosive, but after a bad relationship she’s not sure she can commit again.

Excerpt

She jerked her hand from his. “Where are we going?”

“Basement. Need you.” He reached for her.

She backed up. “We can’t. Your mom—”

He drew her against him. “You feel that? How hard I am?”

A soft sigh escaped her lips, his only answer.

He brushed his fingertip across them. “I ache, darling.”

She turned her head and sucked one of his fingers into her mouth. The tug connected with his balls. He wrenched his finger free and cupped her face between his hands. “I’m going to take you downstairs and fuck you, Iona. Hard and fast.” Her eyes widened. He loved the shock displayed in them. He brushed his lips over hers. “Then tonight, you’re coming home with me, and I’m going to love you real slow, until you beg me to fill you up.”

She shook her head. “No sleepovers. No commitments. I told you that. Besides, your mom is picking me up early. We’re going shopping.”

Her words danced through his head. Disappointment hit first, then excitement flared. “You didn’t say no to now.”

She swallowed hard. “I don’t know. I want you, but…”

“But what?”

She glanced in the direction of the living room. “What if somebody walks in on us? Your family will assume we’re in a relationship.”

“Nobody will catch us.” With a single finger, he turned her face toward him. “Do you trust me?”

Her cautious nod answered him.

“Good.” That was all he needed to know. He lifted her, a hand on her bottom.

“Wyn—”

He nipped her lip. “Quiet. We only have a few minutes.” He pulled the basement door shut behind them and turned the lock. “And I’m not wasting them talking.”

“You’re serious.” Her whisper matched her widened eyes.

He hurried down the stairs and dropped her bottom on the back of the sofa. “Yeah. I don’t think I’ll survive a whole day without you.”

She clutched at his shirt. “Oh.”

One word. Damn he loved how she reacted to him. He popped the button on her shorts and tugged the zipper. She lifted her bottom. No hesitation. No denial. He held her acceptance close.

“Next time, I’ll worship you. Head to toe. Eat you out. Lick your breasts. Give you everything.” Hand fisted around her waistband, he glanced at her. “You want that?”

She nodded. “Yes. I want.”

“Good, but tonight I need you. Just like this.”

Author Bio

A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.
