Thank heaven for babes who like to raise hell.

Taming the Beast, Book 5

Wynona relishes her job as a reaper. Some jerkwad pisses her off? He’s toast. Any
douchebag who mistreats a woman better watch out. Lately, she’s been enjoying it a little
too much—and Heaven is not amused.

Wings temporarily clipped, she’s doing time working as an enforcer at From Crud to
Stud. The body count isn’t what she’s used to, but at least the scenery—that is, her celestial
parole officer—is tall, dark, and deliciously hot.

Rafael can’t take his eyes off Wynona. No, really. She’s a 24/7, one-on-one job. No matter
how hard this angel rides her, she begs for more. Finding a way to bring out her best side is
turning out to be the greatest challenge of his career.

She’s sassy and sexy, and she’s brought out a side of him he never knew existed—an
inner Dom that is only too willing to follow her down the garden path of unrestrained
indulgence. And once they set foot on that slippery slope, there’s no turning back.

Warning: Virtue has met its match. Celebrates bondage, discipline, voyeurism, and crazy
good sex in an office setting, fetish club, and everywhere else. The faint of heart are advised to
turn back now.

Excerpt #3:

The world stilled.

Wynona’s longing exploded. She melted into Rafael, desperate to get close, and parted her lips to welcome his tongue.

On a restrained growl, he slipped the sweet thing into her mouth, filling her, exploring, his bristly cheeks rasping her skin.

Her nerve endings fired wildly, creating currents of heat followed by a flood of comfort and renewed excitement that had her panting for more. He deepened the kiss, not allowing her one breath or the faintest sound. Her mind turned to mush. She surrendered fully, suckling his tongue deeper, adoring his taste, as fresh and innocent as a new day, rich and seductive to match the most shameless night. Crazy good.
She tugged off the leather cord confining his hair. Freed, those silken waves glided over her hands, thick and wavy, scented with something divine she couldn’t quite place. She imagined the scent was how a sunbeam or a shooting star might smell. Otherworldly and unmatched. Yet he was also of this earth, a passionate being, no different from her.
Indulgence was on their menu. Control not allowed.
She buried her fingers in his mane, hopped into his arms, and wrapped her legs around his lean hips.
He teetered from her weight but righted himself quickly like the strong guy he was. All lean muscles rippled with power, biceps and shoulders bunching.
She moaned for all she was worth, the base noise muffled by his tongue, which transformed the sound into a softer, more feminine response. Already, he’d conquered her and she didn’t mind. He could freaking tame her all he wanted during moments like this.
He turned a slow circle. A sensual dance she couldn’t resist. From the moment she’d come into being, she’d yearned for intimacy fueled by lust but also laced with tenderness.
His kiss was less frantic now, more searching, reaching beyond the façade of her leather outfit, outrageous bravado, and snide comments to the real woman beneath.
Lonely, wanting, horribly insecure.
A flicker of unease ran through her. Walls went up. Submitting to carnal hunger was one thing. Craving anything beyond that was certifiable. She was a reaper, lowest of the low, more hated than politicians, lawyers, and used-car salesmen.
This had to stop.
Rafael wrapped his arm around her waist and coaxed her closer.
Fevered and reckless, she pushed his tongue from her mouth and filled his with hers.
He groaned heartily.

Welcome to the Sprawling A Ranch!

Book Four- Adam and Nic

Small-town life fits Adam Maguire like a pair of favorite blue jeans, while Nicolette Fournier finds it as constricting as a straitjacket. But when this good ol’ country boy and rock n roll princess come together, sparks fly hot enough to melt the icing on the delicious cakes in Nic’s bake shop. As the youngest of six brothers, nothing is more important to Adam than family, and he believes Nic would make a great addition to his. Only Nic is counting the days to when she has fulfilled familial obligations and can return to her life of open roads and adventure, leaving bad childhood memories in her rearview mirror. To make this free spirit his, Adam will have to pull out all of the stops to convince her that the only bed he wants to set his cowboy boots under are hers, and home wouldn’t be complete without her Doc Martens beside them.
Available at: Amazon: iBooks: Kobo
Book Three- Ben, Faith, and Colby
Ben Castillo was every woman’s fantasy. More precisely, Faith O’Leary’s fantasy. Tall, broad, and oh-so handsome, he had a deep voice, and big hands, and the best part of all – he was just as kinky as the rumors suggested. Even kinkier. When he agreed to help Faith explore her submissive nature, she mistakenly thought her biggest obstacle would be in getting Ben to believe her when she said she wasn’t going to walk away after his tutelage was over. Instead she finds herself facing the scorn of their conservative community when it’s discovered that their relationship also included time spent with his cute roommate Colby.
Ben was convinced his time with Faith was limited, and she’d move on to someone closer to her own age and settle down once she had her fun. The vicious gossip going around town is a sign for him to walk away from the woman he’s come to love, but Colby thinks Ben’s a fool, and will do whatever he can to ensure a happy ending. For all of them.

Book Two- Mark and Gabriella
For years Mark Webber was in love with his best friend’s girl, and it had become well past time for him to move on for greener pastures. Not long after he left,  Mark realized the Sprawling A was his home, so now he’s back, ready to leave the past in the dust. While he was gone, there had been some changes at the A, including a new ranch hand who comes with a sister that stirs Mark’s passions in ways he never felt. Gabriella Montoya has come to the ranch seeking shelter after a failed marriage. Not only is she welcomed with open arms, but she gains six big brothers. But one man doesn’t look at her like he would a sister. Oh, no. Mark gazes at her with a heat and promise in his eyes, and damn if he doesn’t deliver on every one. But Gabriella’s not certain she’s ready to embark on another relationship so soon with a man who has made no bones about wanting forever, especially when both of their pasts rise from the ashes and threaten everything they have. Available at Amazon: Barnes & Noble: Kobo: AReBooks: iTunes
Book One- Trey and Greta
An on the job accident leaves ranch owner Trey Armstrong with a dislocated shoulder and no recollection of the last few years of his life, including his marriage to the lovely Greta. His mind might not remember her but his body sure does, and despite his lack of memory, Trey finds himself eager to return to the homestead. With his ranch a success and a beautiful, understanding wife by his side, Trey comes to think that he's been living the charmed life. But not all is as it seems. Behind shy smiles and scorching kisses, Greta is hiding secrets that could destroy their rediscovered relationship. When the illusion of his perfect marriage begins to crumble, Trey realizes he can't live in oblivion forever and will have to remember his past in order to salvage his future. Summer Days and Deadlines

People always ask if it's harder for me to write in the summer. I have both boys home with me all day every day for three months. But, the truth is, it's actually easier. I don't put my kiddos in a lot of camps over the summer so I'm not rushing them back and forth to things like I am during the school year. They wake up around ten, eat (they eat a lot throughout the day), and we go to the pool some days so they can swim, but our days during the summer are pretty relaxed.

This summer I decided to go one step further and challenge myself with a deadline for my writing. I haven't been writing much. As you can probably tell if you look at my releases. It's been difficult for me to stay motivated. I've started and stopped a couple projects this year. It happens. But when I saw a house had a call for sci-fi novellas, I figured what the heck. Might as well give it a shot.

Last month I wrote close to nine thousand words while trying to hit the deadline. Obviously nine thousand words do not a novella make. I missed the chance to submit to that house. But that's okay. It's been awhile since I've written nine thousand words on a story in a month. Working at the deadline helped me get back into the flow of writing, which is what I really needed. And I've since found another deadline with another house that I might make.

If I miss that deadline, I can always finish the story and submit it to the same house as a finished work so there is nothing for me to lose.

READ AN EXCERPT OF CALL OF THE WILD WIND BY SABRINA YORK

Britannia gulped. The command had utterly thrown her for a loop.
Undress him?
How strange that a curl of excitement whipped through her belly. She resolved, however, to be as aloof and blasé as he, and stepped behind him to help him shed his coat.
A frisson of restlessness, a coil of tension shot through her at the sight of this man in his shirtsleeves. This was a shockingly intimate tableau. She reminded herself she was his servant and there was nothing more to it. But when he turned around, so she could untie his cravat, she began to shake.
She drew in a deep breath and began working the knot.
All the while, he glared at her with a muscle pulsing in his cheek. Surely she was not so clumsy or slow to deserve that.
When she began on his buttons, he snarled something that sounded like, “Never mind,” and turned away to finish the job himself.
It wasn’t wrong for her to watch.
She was a valet, after all.
And, frankly, she was curious.
Besides, it wasn’t as though she hadn’t seen plenty of naked men in her day. If one counted today.
But oh. That frightening and dismal experience had done nothing to prepare her for this. As Charles pulled off his linen shirt, and his bronzed back was revealed, she nearly swallowed her tongue. Mr. Cole-Winston had not had muscles like that, muscles that bunched and rippled when he moved. Mr. Cole-Winston had not had a bottom like that, either. Charles’ bum was beautifully formed and tight. His legs were long and thick and, all things considered, rather intriguing.
She tried not to stare, but could not help herself.
Had she really thought naked men were hideous?
This one was like an Elgin marble. Perfect. A Greek God.
As he shed the last of his clothing, and Charles turned to the side to step into the tub, it almost seemed as though he was shielding his most private parts from her, which was, all in all, a disappointment.
Everyone knew the most interesting part of an Elgin marble was the—
“Well?” he barked as he sloshed into the water.
“Well what?”
He glanced over his shoulder at her. “Are you going to wash my back?”
Wash his back? Touch him? She gulped. Dare she?
“Well?”
She tipped her head to the side. “If you wish.”
“I do so.” He waved to the cloth and soap Will had left on the table and she gathered them up and then slowly made her way to his side.
She didn’t even try to peek over his shoulder into the water.
Much.
Unfortunately, it was murky.
Or fortunately. Depending on one’s point of view.
Gingerly, Britannia dipped the cloth into the water and made a lather and then began scrubbing Charles’ back.
This was, again, a new experience for her. And again, a surprising delight. His skin was warm and smooth. His muscles were finely formed. She found she enjoyed washing him very much.
He, however, did not seem to enjoy it at all. His muscles were tense and he moved restlessly as she worked away on his back.
“Would you like me to wash your hair?” she asked.
“No,” he snapped, though there was no call for snapping.
“Shall I wash your front as well?”
He whipped around and frowned at her, then snatched the cloth away. “No.”
“What would you like me to do?”
She did not understand the consternation on his face. Really she didn’t. And…why did he look as though he was in pain?
“Just turn around.”
An odd command, but she did so, and then she heard him rise from the water. Her gaze flicked to the mirror and she froze as she caught a glimpse of…
Good. Glory.
He was magnificent.
And he was aroused.
She knew enough about the way of the world to spot that right off.
But why would he be aroused by his valet?
Unless…
Oh dear. She’d heard about that, too.
She peered at him over her shoulder as he dried himself with the towel and dressed in what he assumed was semi-privacy. Oh, he was a beautiful man.
Why should it matter to her if he preferred young valets over ladies of the ton? It wasn’t as though the two of them had any kind of future. But somehow it did matter, and the fact that it did matter irritated her greatly. And made her sad.
Which was ridiculous.
She was in love with Peter.
She had no business wanting any other man. Most specifically, him.
He turned around without warning, catching her gaze on him, and he frowned. “This was a mistake,” he said.
“I beg your pardon, milord?”
His lips twisted bitterly. He raked his fingers through his hair. “Oh leave off, Britannia. I know it’s you.”
Shock whipped through her. Her knees wobbled and she sat with a plop on the bed. “What?”
“I know it’s you. How could I not know it’s you? How could any man not know it’s you?”
Well, blast. She put out a lip. “When did you realize?”
“Really?” He tipped his head to the side and gaped at her. “The first bluidy moment I saw you by the mail coach.”
“You did not know then! How could you?”
He snorted a laugh. “Because I’ve met you? I know your face. Your expressions. Your smile.”
“Why on earth did you pretend you did not?”
He snorted again; this one was not a laugh. “I thought to teach you a lesson.”
She couldn’t help it. She chuckled.
He was not amused.
“You thought to teach me a lesson?” How adorable. “Is that why you made me fetch and carry for you?”
“You hardly fetched or carried anything.”
“I intended to. That counts for something. And you’re the one who stormed downstairs all growly and rude.”
“Rude? Rude? I was worried about you. You disappeared and didn’t return.”
“I was right there in the—”
“Oh, yes. I heard the songs they were singing. What do you think your father would say if he knew you’d been exposed to such language?”
She batted her lashes. “He would probably think you were the one who exposed me to it.”
It was wrong of her to be amused by his chagrin. Or not.
“I was the one who saved you from a brigand and don’t you forget it.”
There was no call for finger shaking.
“I won’t forget it. I am certain my father will be very appreciative.” She frowned at him. “Would you mind finishing?” Not that she didn’t appreciate the glorious expanse of his chest, but it was a trifle distracting.
“What?”
She waved at his person. “You are undone.”
Why he muttered, “You have no idea,” was a mystery. But he did make an effort to do up his buttons, though he got them wrong.
“So,” she huffed. “What do we do now?”
His gaze snapped to hers and his face went a little red and that muscle in his cheek began bunching again. “I…what?”
“Are you sending me back to London?” Might as well throw it out there. But she wasn’t going. If she had to, she would slip out in the night like a wraith and find some other means of making her way to Wick.
He huffed a breath and collapsed into the chair. “We both know how that would end up, don’t we?”
“Do we?” She widened her eyes in an attempt to look innocent. He was not fooled.
“At this point, it is better for you to travel with me, where you will be safe. Though we will need to hire a companion.”
“A companion? Whatever for?”
“You are a lady, remember?”
“Within the last week, I’ve been a boy and a valet. That seems to have worked out fine.”
“Has it?” He leaned forward and pinned her with a glare. “What do you think would have happened if I had not come along when I did this morning?”
She sniffed. “There is no need to belabor the point. I believe I did thank you.”
“In point of fact, you did not—”
“Well, thank you—”
“But your gratitude, or lack thereof, is hardly at issue here. You were in dire danger of being—”
“Being what?”
“Ravaged.” He scrubbed his face with his palms. “Can you imagine what could have happened?”
“I was prepared to protect myself.”
For some reason, her declaration did not appease him. “Really? And how would you have done that?”
She sat up straight and tipped up her chin. “Caesar has taught me to box.”
“Oh bluidy hell.”
“And I know where a man is most…vulnerable.”
“That you do.”
Again, she did not understand his insinuation. “Regardless, it seems perfectly obvious to me. We shall travel together to Wick, but there is no need for a companion. I can continue posing as your valet.”
“Wandering around strange inns and flirting with the stable boys?”
“I was not flirting!”
“It looked like that to me.”
“Will and I were simply being friendly.”
“And we all know where that leads, do we not?”
“Balderdash.” She turned away and stared at the door. “One would think you were jealous, the way you are carrying on.”
“Jealous?” A roar. One that shook the room. “To be jealous, I would have to want you for myself.”
The silence that fell, following his pronouncement, was a deafening one. Slowly, she turned and looked at him.
His eyes burned. His face was a mask. His hands were closed into fists.
And she saw it there. On his face, in his expression.
An unholy thrill rose up within her. Because there, in that moment, all thoughts of Peter faded. No man existed but this one. This large, perfectly-formed, glorious specimen. And she realized that her impatience with him, her restlessness in his presence all along, had been speaking to one thing and one thing only.
She desired him, this man who was not her betrothed.
It was really something of a surprise, but not nearly as surprising as the realization that he wanted her as well.
He stood and prowled across the room. He stopped just short of her, touching her with nothing but his breath.
“Britannia, I am trying to be an honorable man.”
She stood as well and faced him, toe-to-toe. “The way an honorable man pretends not to recognize a lady in distress so he can use her as his servant?”
“I think I explained, I was trying to teach you a lesson.”
“Which is so very flattering really. Women love it when men show them their place.”
“It was not meant like that and you know it.”
“Do I?”
“Goddamn it, Britannia…”
“Such language. Whatever would my father say?”
“I believe he would say you are in need of a spanking.”
Her eyes widened. Outrage swelled. If he even tried, she would saw him open with the butter knife. “You are something of a beast, you know.”
“I am a Scot,” he snarled. “What else would you expect?”
Well, there was no answer for that.
But then, he didn’t expect one.
Rather, he took that last step toward her, yanked her into his arms, and kissed her.
It was not a gentle, demure or respectful kiss. Not in the slightest. It was like the wild wind on the moors. A crashing tumult of a storm at sea.
And it was mind-boggling.

The Outsiders Stole My Child's Innocence - And That's Okay

What was the first “adult” book you read?
And by adult I don’t mean x-rated, but that first book that wasn’t about Ramona Quimby or Superfudge. That first book to address adult themes and where terrible things happened to the characters you loved.
As the school year drew to a close, my oldest daughter came home and told me her class was reading The Outsiders. Uh-ho, I thought. Here it comes. My tender-hearted eighth-grade child is reading her first not-so happy book. I smiled, told her how that book was branded into my brain forever, but kept mum.
The next day I asked her what part she was at, and she told me how they were at the movies. Then she gushed about how Johnny was her favorite. “He’s so adorable.” And yes, my child gushes.
Ack! What do I say now?! Do I warn her about what is to come, or do I let her experience the joys and pain when reading a book that sucks you in and makes you care about the characters?
I said nothing. Just smiled again, and immediately posted my quandary on Facebook like a good mother does.
But still, I said nothing, for that is the joy and beauty of reading. Becoming immersed in an author’s world, falling in love with a character and crying when horribleness befalls them. By spoiling the ending, I would have taken away the awe of discovery. Of riding the emotional wave the author had set her on.
Books draw us in and capture us in ways movie and television do not. They move and inspire us down to our soul because we can remember where we were as we read the words that changed us. The feel of the paper beneath our fingers as we turned the page to keep going. How we stayed up till four am because we had to know what happens next. How could I as a mother and an author take that away from her?
I couldn’t. So I waited. And the day came. Yes, she was sad. But she loved the story, and it was also the first time I saw her sit for hours on end and read a book. Score for literature!
Reading is magical. Books are magical. May your next bit of magic be a one-click or bookstore away.
Happy reading and until next time y’all! Until next time!

Cheesecake Love

Happy 4th of July!

Fireworks, family, barbecues, car shows, and food. Lots of food. That's what I think of when I hear 4th of July. As you may have guessed, I'm the baker in the family. And one of my favorite desserts is cheesecake.

In Sweetest Kisses, Nic wins Adam's heart with an orgasm-inducing cheesecake. This is a recipe some friends and I came up with in culinary school. I will never forget the look on my chef-instructors face when he saw what we were doing. "Where did you come up with that?" he asked. "It's Girl Scout cookie season," I replied. D'uh.

Samoan Cheesecake

8oz chocolate wafer cookie crumbs
3oz melted butter
1 pound 2oz Chevre (mild goat's milk cheese) room temperature
6oz Marscapone cheese
6oz granulated sugar
1/3 cup heavy cream
5 eggs at room temperature
8oz granulated sugar
1/3 cup heavy cream
3oz coconut flake
Dash of lemon juice and vanilla
Melted chocolate.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare a 9inch cake round or springform pan by covering the outside with aluminium foil.

Melted butter. Combine butter with cookie crumbs and press into the bottom of the pan and partway up the sides.
In a bowl cream together the Chevre, marscapone, and the six ounces of sugar. I a separate bowl, combine eggs and cream. Slowly mix egg mixture with the cheeses until smooth. Lumps cause cracks, so no lumps.
Pour in to the cake pan. Place a pan in the center of a roasting pan, then place in the over. Pour warm water into the roasting pan. About one to two inches deep. You are creating a steam bath.

Bake for about 50 minutes. After baking, allow the cake to cool. Once cool and released from the pan, melt the remaining sugar in a pan with a smidgen of water. Just enough to get the sugar wet. Let the sugar cook uninterrupted until it turns a golden brown color. Add the cream and a squirt of lemon juice and a dash of vanilla. Careful, the mixture will bubble fiercely. Stir in the flaked coconut. Pour over cheesecake in a thin layer.

Finish by melting some chocolate and drizzle over the top. I know!! Can you imagine!

If you want to make this cake more summertime, change out the chocolate cookies for graham crackers, and pour your favorite fruit mixture over the top.

Have a safe and sane 4th, y'all!

Until next time!

I will survive by Jennifer Kacey

I need to get a few things off my chest. Figure this is the best place to do that so that maybe it can do some good for anybody else struggling with the same things....

The last royalties paid to me by EC I actually received paid through July 2015. That's right 2015. So they are now 11 months late paying me royalties. I don't know about the rest of you but I actually like to get paid for the work I put my blood sweat and tears into. It's kind of a thing.

Author Equation
Work hard for months on a project you love - time with family + hours of editing + a shit ton of money for marketing and tours and stock = a paycheck.
This is the equation all authors work under.

Lately I've seen a rash of people talking about giving up their dream of writing because they've been kicked when they're down over and over again. One too many times unbalances the equation above and the good no longer outweighs all the bad. How incredibly sad.

By bad I mean the publishers who refuse to pay us royalties based off of our contract AND refuse to give us our book rights back and we can do nothing but sit around and bitch or find money from somewhere else to sue them.
By other publishers who send out emails with absolutes in them and then a few days or weeks or months (or all of the above) later do the opposite and we find ourselves in some kind of land of no answers where we flounder around for a direction that is tenuous at best.
Or by readers who buy our books and then return them. Not just one book because there was some kind of mistake. No I'm talking our FULL catalogs, one book at a time, because they've figured out how to game the system and get all the books they want and then just return it for whatever bullshit reason they've come up with that day.
Then there are the pirates out there. Assholes who steal our hard earned work and then put it out on the internet so everyone can reap the benefits of our hard work for nothing.
Then you have the douche bags who download our books for free with claims they can't afford our work because we don't give it away for free (How dare we!) but they still want to read. Go try that shit at Target or a Michael Kors store or a farmers market down the street or ANYWHERE ELSE. It's called stealing for a reason because it's STEALING!!!

So when authors say "the easy part is writing the book"? It's true. For all the business and professional reasons of editing and marketing and trying to find our audience and keep it and continue to put out better and better work because we're learning and growing. And for all the reasons listed above and so many more it makes me tired just thinking about them.

But do you know what?
We find little things and big things to make all the bullshit worth it.
What kinds of things?? Well let me share some of it!

The other day I was mentioned in a tweet along with JR Ward and Jasmine Haynes which are two authors I adore!! This alone was enough to make my day. But do you know what was even better?? They both liked the tweet! Yes I did take a screen shot so I could remember it! They took a couple seconds out of their day and totally made mine.
A day before that I'd received several fan emails for Her Creed one of my latest books, and one that is VERY special for me. These women took time out of their day when they could have been doing ANYTHING else to tell me how much the book touched them. Touched them in a "heeeyyyyyy" kind of way and in an "OMG I've never thought of things like that" kind of way. And they took the time to tell me. Even thinking it is awesome but they could have closed the book, put it on a shelf and then moved on, but they didn't. I am so incredibly thankful for the amazing fans I have that keep me going.

And today, right before writing this blog post, I created a new FB banner. I added a few new book covers to my colorful banner of awesome. Here it is......
Isn't it rainbowtastic!?!? And I wrote all of them. My words, my characters, my emotions on all of those pages. Along with a few amazeballs other authors on the Elite series! Hundreds of thousands of words make up my rainbow of stories and seeing them all in one place made me incredibly happy.

These things tell me all I need to know. So in the immortal words of Diana Ross....
I WILL SURVIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not because I have to keep doing this but because I want to. I'll wade through the piles of bullshit people keep shoveling in our path because all the disappointment and heartache can't extinguish my passion for writing smutty books with dominant men and delicious females they love and protect.

So to all the readers out there - take that couple minutes and tell an author you love how much their words mean to you. You may not know how much they need to hear it.
And to all the writers out there struggling - you're not alone. We are all struggling sometimes and I'm giving each and everyone of you a HUGE squeezy (((((((HUG)))))))) to get you through the tough times.

Now.....to get back to writing. Hmmm. Kink, Elite, wolves, step brothers or kink? Yes, yes I think I will..................................

Decadently Yours,
Jennifer Kacey
