The World of Drakons

Part of the fun about being a writer is getting to create new and exciting worlds for my characters. In my Blood of the Drakon series, there are drakons spread throughout the world. Drakons are the male offspring that were the result of matings between pureblooded dragons and human women about 4000 years ago. The dragons returned to their own realm, abandoning their sons to our world. Drakons have the cunning, strength, preternatural abilities, and instincts of their dragon sires, along with the intellect and emotions of their human mothers. A deadly combination.

Their existence is known to very few, but there are those who wish to cage them for their blood, which can offer healing and immortality to humans who drink it. And now, after all these years, many of the drakons are finally finding their fated mates.

But the path to love is never smooth, especially when your chosen mate is always your greatest enemy.

Drakon’s Knight
Blood of the Drakon, Book 7

Drakon Jericho Drake, the child of a pure-blood dragon and human, has a simple plan: Kill the leader of the Knights of the Dragon and start a war. Except, when he meets his target, Karina Azarov, she can’t remember who she is. Worst of all––he can’t kill her. His dragon side has just claimed the dangerous woman as his mate.

Karina has no idea why these Drakon’s have taken her to their home. And she most certainly does not understand why she’s so drawn to her captor. Maybe because he’s strong, intelligent, and caring, in his enigmatic sort of way. One thing she knows, he’s not going to hurt her. If only she could remember something from her past that would explain why these Drakon’s hate her so much.

But if her memory returns, mated or not, he may get his war.. And one of them will die.

TEASER:

He looked at her, then—really looked. His eyes were pure black, but there was something in their depths. Red and violet flames. She blinked several times, not quite able to believe what she was seeing.

“You’re a drakon?” Who believed such things? Obviously, she had, and so did Jericho.

He nodded. “Yes. And you’re my greatest enemy.”

Her stomach sank. It wasn’t safe to be his foe, to be on the wrong side of any of these men. Drakons aside, they reeked of danger, of determination and drive. They’d do whatever it took to get a job done.

“Why haven’t you already killed me?” Maybe she was crazy to ask, to remind him of his original intention, but she had to know.

He gave a rough laugh, but it wasn’t a pleasant sound. “Why? I’ve asked myself that a dozen times since I pulled you from the wreckage.” He absently rubbed his chest. “It seems Fate or Nature or whatever you want to call it is a fickle bitch and has played a mean trick on us both.”

She didn’t want to ask, afraid of the answer. “And that trick is?”

He leaned forward, a scowl on his rough-hewn face. “That you’re my mate.”
