Gun Shy by Sabrina York (Hell Yeah! Kindle World)

Gun Shy by Sabrina York

Returning to his hometown to sell his hated father’s ranch, the last thing Andrew Grant expects to find on his first day in town is a reason to stay. But there she is, Melissa Divine. The girl he loved all those years ago.

But Melissa has changed since those innocent days. She’s just escaped from a hellish marriage and wants nothing to do with any man. Especially not this big, burly alpha biker who reminds her of her ex.

Can this former SEAL change her mind before his time runs out?

READ AN EXCERPT!

It was the grin that did her in. Warm, gentle, understanding.
It was that grin that washed away her reluctance.
He was the man she chose. He was the man her heart and soul told her she wanted.
Could she be wrong?
Absolutely.
There was that risk in every decision in every day of living.
There was no shame in the fear.
Running from it was the weakness.
She did not run.
She took a step toward him. And another. She went up on her tiptoes, cupped his nape in her trembling hand, and she kissed him.
His lips were mobile beneath hers and warm, but he made no other move. She had to take his hand and set it on her hip before he touched her. But once she had issued that subtle invitation, he didn’t require more.
He turned her around and braced her against the kitchen counter and deepened the kiss, sending glory and delight through her body. She reveled in the sensation of his mouth trailing hotly over her cheek and down to the crook of her neck, where he nibbled at the sensitive skin there.
Ribbons of pleasure skittered over her nerves and she pressed against him, trying desperately to get closer. His scent surrounded her, filling her nostrils, dizzying her mind. Filling her with an irresistible urge to taste him as well.
Madly, voraciously, they ate at each other, licking, lapping, nipping all exposed skin and then, in a frenetic rush, exposing more. In her frenzy, she popped the buttons off his shirt. They skittered all over the floor, but neither of them noticed or cared. They also ignored the dogs’ amusement with the new toys.
As buttons and toenails clattered on the linoleum, Andrew murmured something unintelligible and walked her backwards into the room off the kitchen.
Thank God the room was off the kitchen.
She didn’t think she had the wherewithal to make it up the stairs.
Her body was afire, liquid and languid—as though an angry volcano bubbled at her core.
Andrew seemed equally shaken. His hands shook as he removed her blouse. His eyes were wide, red-rimmed, as he stared at her breasts, cupped in nothing but lace.
“God,” he sighed. “God.” Then he whipped around and kicked the door closed with his boot.
She laughed. “Why did you do that?”
“The dogs sleep with me sometimes. At the moment I’d prefer they not join us.”
“Excellent idea.”

New Release from Sabrina York: Herding Cat, A Hot SEALs/Stone Hard SEALs Kindle Worlds Crossover

Herding Cat By Sabrina York
A Hot SEALs/Stone Hard SEALs Crossover Novella

The scorching sequel to Guard Dog

It’s insane to want him, this beautiful, strong, sexy man. Not just because her hot bodyguard is tasked with herding her safely through the exotic night markets of Hong Kong. And not just because she’s his boss. But because they are worlds apart. What they have can only be a fling. It can’t last forever.
But Garrett has other ideas.

Read An Excerpt

It was a relief to get Catherine into another cab and head back to their hotel, but Garrett knew better than to relax. At least until they reached sanctuary. And even then, he would stay on alert.
This event had changed things, shifted them away from a standard protection op onto the offensive. “I’ll stay with you tonight.” God, it was hard keeping his tone casual.
Her head whipped around and she gaped at him. “What?”
“You cannot be alone.” Her horrified expression gutted him. He forced a laugh. “Don’t worry. I’ll sleep on the couch.” And thank God her suite had a sitting room. But he would have made a pallet on the floor if it hadn’t.
“I don’t need company.”
“You need protection.”
“No one is coming into my room.”
“Do you know that for certain? Are you willing to bet your life?” Because it could be that, exactly.
Her determination faltered. She nibbled her lip. He had to look away.
He wanted to nibble that lip. And more.
“In the event someone does try to get to you, I will be there.”
She huffed a sigh. “Oh, all right.” She was as petulant as a little girl, but he sensed some hint of relief in her tone. No doubt, despite her stalwart mask, she was scared.
She should be.
They pulled up to the hotel and Garrett exited the cab first, scanning the curved drive. There were far too many people standing around. “Come on,” he said, taking her hand and guiding her from the cab, across the drive and into the spinning doors of the hotel.
The lobby was busy too. Garrett quartered the space as he urged her toward the elevators. He was used to her turning heads—of course she would, she was drop-dead gorgeous—but at this moment it set his nerves on end.
A man sitting on a couch reading a newspaper captured his attention. The look in his eye was too sharp. Garrett quickly memorized his features. And there, another man, leaning against the counter of the registration desk…too calculating.
The wait for the elevator took forever. When it finally arrived, Garrett ushered her in. Perhaps with a little too much force. She glared at him.
He ignored her ire. An older couple stepped on the elevator with them, chattering about their evening and then, to Garrett’s annoyance, the newspaper man did as well. He glanced at the panel and pushed the button for the floor below Catherine’s.
Garrett knew, just knew, this man was not staying at this hotel. He reached forward and pushed a random button. When the elevator stopped on that floor, he ushered Catherine out.
Miraculously, she did not protest. But she did ask, when the elevator shushed closed, “Why did you do that?”
He shrugged. “Just a precaution.” And he needed time to prepare. In the event they arrived at the penthouse floor to find that man awaiting them. He called another elevator and pulled out his SIG Sauer, just to be safe.
Catherine’s eyes widened and she eeped, but she said nothing else.
The ride to their floor took moments. Garrett gestured for Catherine to stay back as he checked out the hall. To his relief, there was no one there. He quickly ushered her to the double doors of her suite and, again, motioned for her to wait. It took less than a minute for him to clear the room, but the entire time, his pulse slammed in his veins. He hated leaving her outside while he checked the closets and the bathroom, but it was safer.
When he was finally certain there was no one there, he pulled her inside and locked the door.
Finally.
Finally she was safe.
He nearly collapsed with relief.
Until she turned to him and said, “I’m hungry.”
He frowned at her. “We’re not going back out.”
“But I’m hungry.”
He stormed over to the desk, grabbed the room service menu and thrust it at her. She wrinkled her nose. “They charge an extra seventeen percent for room service.”
“It’s safer.”
She gusted a sigh, but dropped on the sofa—the one he’d be sleeping on, not that that thought winged through his mind—and studied the offerings. “Do you want anything?”
Well hell. He was a little hungry too. They’d had lunch at Hong Kong City Hall, but the dim sum had long ago been burned off. The adrenaline, probably. “Do they have burgers?”
She nodded. “That’s what I’m getting too.”
He liked that about her. Liked a woman who ate real food.
As she called in the order, he did a quick assessment of her suite, checking for any potential security issues. Her rooms were on the top floor of the hotel with no balcony, so that was a nonissue, but the locks on the door were not the best. Also, double doors could be easily breached if they were not bolted into the floor. It annoyed him that these were not. He had zip ties though. He could lash the handles together and provide some added security—and time, should anyone decide to attempt an incursion.
After she called in their order, Catherine went to the bathroom. She was in there a long time. Long enough for Garrett to suspect that what she really needed was some time alone. This had been a rough day—for all of them.
Still, after a while, he knocked on the door. “Are you okay?” he asked.
“Fine,” she called, but he noticed it was a watery response.
Yeah. She just needed time to deal with all this. He could hardly blame her.
She emerged just before the knock came on the door, announcing their dinner had arrived.
It was tough, sitting there at the table, watching her eat. Watching her swirl her fries in the ketchup and suck it off. Watching her lick her fingers. Fucking lick her fingers.
Did she have any idea how sexy that was?
He wanted nothing more right now than to yank her into his arms and kiss her.
But he couldn’t. Shouldn’t.
She looked up. Caught him staring at her. Instead of a glower—as he expected, being caught out like this—her eyes widened like a gazelle on an African plain sighting a predator.
And fuck. He felt like one.
Especially when that wanting look flickered through her eyes.
Oh, she tried to hide it, but he saw it. Couldn’t miss it. It sent a flame licking through his body. He was damn tired of pretending. Tired of looking away. Tired of acting like the simmering arousal he felt for her didn’t exist. Tired of keeping himself constrained.
As he continued to watch her, she became restless. And then she frowned. “Stop that,” she said.
“Stop what?”
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you want to…eat me up.”
He did. He wanted to eat her all up. And he wanted her to know it.
He couldn’t stop his roguish grin. “Scott was right.”
She blinked. “What?”
“It is hard to be with you, day in and day out, and not make a move.”
Her throat worked. “I…ah… Do you want to make a move?”
“Hell, yeah.”
A pink tide crept up her cheeks. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
“It’s not ridiculous in the least.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
“Because you should know.”
“Know? Know what?” Her innocence was feigned. It had to be. She was a grown woman. A knockout. Surely she knew what effect she had on the males of the species.
“You should know how much I want to kiss you right now.”
Her eyes shone. Her lips parted. Her tongue peeped out.
And yeah.
That was an engraved invitation if he’d ever seen one. Without a word, he pushed back his chair and rose. And then he rounded the table, took hold of her wrist and yanked her into his arms.

BLOG TAKEOVER: Daring Masquerade - Alannah Lynne

Thanks, Cara, for sharing your day with me and letting me talk about my new release, DARING MASQUERADE!

When I received an invitation to write one of the launch stories for the new Carly Phillips DARE TO LOVE Kindle World, I was stunned. I’ve been a Carly Phillips fan for as long as I’ve been a reader of romance, and being given the opportunity to play in her world, with her characters, was an opportunity I couldn't pass up – even though I only had five weeks to pull it off, and Christmas fell in the middle of it! LOL

I’d had the idea for Karma/Carmella for a while, but couldn't fit her into my Heat Wave series. After thinking on it for a few days, I figured out a way to connect her with Jonathon Ridgeway, from Carly’s DARE TO DESIRE, and the result is DARING MASQUERADE. I hope you enjoy this steamy excerpt taken from a scene on Jon’s sailboat, where Becca is about to receive a massage she’ll never forget!

Blurb:

When a hired heartbreaker falls for her target, both their hearts are at risk…

For the past five years, Becca Irving (aka Carmella Jones, aka Karma) has worked as a hired heartbreaker, seeking revenge and justice against men who thoughtlessly hurt the women who love them. She expects her next mark to be just as callous, but Jon isn’t her typical target. He’s a good man with a loving nature and dominant streak that crushes her walls and tempts her into believing love can be real and lasting.

From the moment he lays eyes on the beguiling redhead, Jonathon Ridgeway is hooked. When a sensuous dance leads to an erotic weekend aboard his boat, he realizes he needs more than a brief affair with the complex and tantalizing woman.
But neither Jon nor Becca are who—or what—they seem. Will he be able to forgive her past actions? Can she overlook his? Or will they both be left brokenhearted by the secrets of their past?

Excerpt:
The second Jon’s palms pressed against her shoulders, she got lost in the ecstasy of his touch. She exhaled with a long moan and sank another two inches into the cushions. His hands were large and firm, but not too rough, and as they slid across her skin, her stress level dropped from ten to two.
God, it felt good to have another person—someone she was interested in—touching her. She hadn’t realized how little human contact she’d had until this moment. When working a con, she held the man’s hand or allowed him to wrap his arm around her shoulder. But they weren’t really touching her. And she certainly hadn’t enjoyed their touch. It was just part of the act she’d been forced to play.
But this wasn’t an act, it wasn’t a con, and she wanted Jon to touch her everywhere.
“Where’s your mind right now, Becca?” His tone was kind but firm, a gentle reminder for her to forget everything but his touch.
How he knew she let her mind wander she didn't know. But she was grateful he called her out on it so she could strengthen her resolve to focus on nothing but him.
“It’s on you… your strong hands… the way they glide over my skin… down my spine, one vertebrae at a time.” She drew in a sharp breath and swallowed a sigh as he continued from the base of her spine to the crease of her ass. “I can’t tell you how good that feels.”
He changed positions and got onto his knees, straddling her legs, and she imagined him preparing to enter her from behind. Electric heat pumped through her system and her sex swelled with anticipation. But rather than take her the way she wanted, he slowly, gently stroked a finger through the center of her folds.
“Jesus, you’re wet.” His voice was strangled, and she sensed his struggle to maintain his control.
She told him he could have her whenever he wanted, so why was he holding back? Maybe he needed a little more incentive. She shifted, spreading her legs as wide as she could, giving him a clear, open invitation.
He chuckled and clamped his palm down over the rounded curve of her ass. “You’re a tease, you know that?”
“I’m not teasing. I’m inviting. Don’t you want me?” Since when did she become so wanton, so desperate… so friggin’ breathy? God, she sounded like Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President.”
He drew in a deep breath, then released it on a growl. “I couldn't want you more than I already do. But this is about you. Making you feel good. We’ll get to the mutual pleasure a little later.”
She wiggled her ass again, teasing him more. “I’m pretty sure the mutual pleasure is going to make me feel good.” Tossing out a challenge, hoping to appeal to his ego and drive him to act, she said, “Am I wrong about that?”
He leaned over and brushed his lips across her shoulder as his finger made another pass up her slit and through the center of her ass cheeks, causing her to arch her back and push against him, seeking more stimulation.
“You’re so tempting, but this is happening on my terms. By the time I finish with you, you’ll have forgotten everything, including your name. And then you’ll beg me to do it all again.”
He kissed the corner of her eye, her temple, then grasped her earlobe between his teeth and pulled. Not enough to hurt, but the tug, along with a quick slap on the ass, got her attention. A mixture of searing pain and pleasure shot into her sex, sparking a firebomb deep in her belly.
“Oh God.” She groaned and arched and pushed her butt provocatively into the air.
His low chuckle washed over her as he shifted around the extra pillow. “Slide this under your belly so that sweet ass stays up in the air.”
She’d never been so exposed as when he pushed the pillow beneath her, but she also liked it. She didn't know why or what about the pose appealed to her, but she felt incredibly feminine and powerful knowing he was equally affected.
“That was the last accommodation I’m making. Stay just like that and don’t move.”
She reached back with her hand to grasp the knee planted beside her thigh, then tried to snake her hand under the leg of his boxer briefs. All she found, though, was frustration because the fabric was pulled too tight against his leg for her to gain access.
Gripping her wrist, he pulled her hand up and over her head, then did the same with the other. She saw a couple pieces of rope mixed in with the blankets he brought up from the cabin and wondered if she subconsciously provoked him with the hopes he would tie her hands.
The thought of being at his mercy caused her temperature to spike and adrenaline flooded her system. She’d never been bound before, but she trusted Jon and didn't doubt he would release her if it became too much. Her breathing grew labored as he slid the rope across the backs of her knuckles, tickling her.
“You want them tied, don’t you?”
She nodded but wasn't sure if he saw the movement with her hair a tangled mess around her head, so she swallowed, licked her lips, then whispered, “Yes.”
He brushed her hair away from her face and studied her eyes. “I couldn't hear you. Did you say yes?” His voice was soft and gentle and at such odds with the intense heat and desire radiating from his eyes. Her stomach flopped like a fish out of water as she gave another jerky nod and mouthed the word again.
He slipped a loop that looked like a noose around both wrists and pulled. It wasn't tight enough to hurt, and she hardly registered the feel of it against her skin. But when she tugged, testing its resistance, her hands barely moved. He slipped the end of the rope through a bar attached to the cabin in front of her, which kept her arms forward and eased the pressure on her shoulders, then ran the rope over to the cleat on top of the railing.
She tried to see herself as he did: wrists bound, arms extended, ass in the air, legs spread, her sex exposed and ready for the taking whenever he chose.
She’d never been so brazen and bold in her life, yet nothing had ever felt so right.

My husband and I used to sail, but I have to confess nothing like THIS ever happened! Maybe because we never went sailing without our kids. LOL After a few years, we sold the sailboat and got a motorboat. Which works way better for me because I get incredibly seasick. What about you? Have you ever been sailing? If not, would you like to give it a try? Or do you prefer the speed of a powerboat? One commenter will receive a copy of DARING MASQUERADE!!
